I bought one of those plans years ago and got huge value for it. $100 one time did pay for 4 oil changes a year for 11 more years. A couple of years ago they did start charging a $4 or so oil-disposal fee, but I didn't care - it was still more than worth it.

This bad publicity will be enough to hurt Midas's business. I was unaware but certainly am now.

If I was the judge, I would order that all Midas assets be siezed and put into escrow to cover the cost of future oil changes (at a garage of the customers choice) until Midas funds a third party account to cover all future costs of this program.

The last time I went to Midas, it was the only place in town I could get a muffler to fit my car. I barely escaped after getting the old "this car is dangerous to drive over 10 MPH" routine. That was in 1980 and I will never darken their door again. Never again will they put the golden touch on me!

I had purchased something like that from Montgomery Ward. They went out of business thereafter. Seems like a quick way to get rich scheme. There probably going to be lot of scams coming up in times like these. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is!Buyer beware.

i will be surprised if midas even stays open long after something like this, with the economy the way it is that was not a smart move by their management.

Ahhh yes, Corporate America at it's finest. This is the Republican business model based on greed. Nothing new. Thanks to the Supreme Farce for making such corporations more important than American citizens.

Let's see if anyone @ Midas gets canned over this. Would prefer the C-suit that agreed to it in the first place.

That's the Midas touch for you! Any offer by Midas is simply a scam just like their lifetime brake jobs. Anyone using any Midas service more than once deserve anything they get from Midas. I'm surprised that they don't try to sell bridges and those funny little pills that make some things so big!!!

dirty crooks!!! I guess it is too good to be true! I bought a "lifetime" membership at a local mom and pop video store for unlimited rentals (1 per day) and that lasted 10 months before they closed up shop... I wasn't too upset, being that I had taken advantage of enough rentals to more than pay for my "lifetime" fee... But there were plenty of people I had seen signing up just weeks before they decided to close shop - according to an old employee the owner wanted to sell the business but no one was buying, so he just closed it and sold off the DVD's... Pretty lame, he was actually making money according to the employee!!! I think Midas (or the franchises) deserve to get sued, when they breach a contract and false advertise!!!

Buyer beware especially is true for the Midas deal as it sounded to good to be true with the price of oil. Someone at the Midas Headquarters must have been nipping at the bottle.

Awww...so whos life time guarantee was it for, the life time of the oil, the life time of the fine print...obviously it wasn't the life time of the vehicle or the owner of the vehicle!
Sounds like a lot of people got suckered!
$130 sure doesn't cover very much...4 oil changes maybe! If they were to go good for it, then that would be the best deal for the customers...even I would go for that!
